New interactive 3D software release from Gaia 3D

Gaia 3D will launch the latest version of its interactive 3D learning solution, Gaia 3D Software, in September. The latest update, Gaia 3D Software v2.5, improves upon existing classroom support capabilities. Major developments include improvements to usability and additional content.

Usability
Two main developments in content search and labelling will make Gaia 3D Software easier for teachers and students to use:

Content search
Gaia 3D already provides ready-made 3D models for you within Gaia 3D Software. However, now all objects that Gaia provides are searchable. This will make it easier for you and your pupils to find specific models, and models that may be of interest for you to use in lessons.

Labelling
You will be able to add your own labels to models that are provided, or to any models that you bring in to the software yourself. Once you have finished adding labels, you have the ability to share your labels with others. You can also import labels that others have shared.

Labelling is particularly useful in accommodating multiple languages and learning abilities. Additionally, multiple labels can be assigned to a single model.

Content
There are several new interactive environments in Gaia 3D Viewer v2.5:

  • Rainforest – Navigate through the Amazon and interact with the different plants and animals in the forest. Travel up through the tree canopy and learn about the fauna and flora within;
  •  Drug House – Explore an environment that helps to inform and develop awareness of the effects of harmful substances such as cocaine, cannabis, alcohol and heroin;
  • Heart and Circulatory System – Shows an animation of a functioning heart and lungs. See the blood flow through the different organs and learn how the valves function;
  • Places of Worship – Explore a mosque, synagogue and a Buddhist temple and find information about these faiths. View and understand the symbolism of their many artifacts and ancient architecture;
  •  Globes – Trek across a number of globes to find geographical information, including CO2 emissions, average life expectancy and population density.

Software integration
Autodesk 123D is a software package that allows users to take multiple digital photos of stationary people, places or objects, and converts them into a highly detailed 3D model that is fully compatible with the Gaia 3D Software.

How do I get the new version?
It’s really simple to get hold of the new version. Gaia 3D Software v2.5 is available for full release in September 2012. However, current customers will be able to immediately receive a pre-release beta version.

Once you’ve contacted us you will receive an email from Gaia 3D with a link to download Gaia 3D Software v2.5. The download is 6GB. However, if this is a concern, we can provide a memory stick loaded with the software for £10 (including P&P).
